As you said you were a child at the time. Don’t blame inflation and Arab terrorists and gas lines solely on President Carter. Those things were already issues when he took office. He did handle the hostage situation badly, but even so, one has to wonder at the timing of their release.
What alec said is right. A person can make mistakes but still be correct about other things.

Although he was full of good intentions and altruistic motivation, he was the REASON so many Democrats had a man crush on Reagan.
