Eko- I don't think the stretch between organized religion and corporate oligarchy are too far out. On eneed only look to the religious corporations who influence lawmakers to see this is true.

AriadneK, Mary, GTL, Timnayar, Mac, and Windspike- Thanks to you all for your kind words. I write primarily to shed some Common Sense on our world, but it is your confirmations that I am hitting the mark that keeps me pluggin away.

Environman- Whether global warming is a major factor in the strength of Katrina, I can't say. I've seen and read many ideas from both sides. I will say that we've done a lot of damage to the planet. It will take a concerted effort to right our wrongs, bith environmentally and politically.

Jolly Roger- Those who were left to anguish on rooftops in sweltering heat without water and food, not because they wanted to ride out the hurricane, but because they had no way out, deserve to throw a little blame around. ZThose of us who watched our government crumble at our feet due to ineffective leadership ahve a right to cast blame too. We're paying for this incompetance. Those who were elected to serve and protect us have no right to point fingers. They are all to blame for this preventable loss of life and property.

I'm sick of their corruption, graft, greed, and lies.

This is perhaps your most powerfully written piece yet - bordering on poetic. Certainly quotable. Have you thought of submitting to an NYTime editorial Op Ed piece? Or another reputable rag?

On the subject at hand, I agree. We are on our own, and the miricle of America is that despite our differences, we can come together and lift each other up. Finally, you’re right on target. It is long, high time we vote out the bastards (all of them regarless of political stripe) and put in some thinking people that vote with a conscience rather than with a supposed “moral” majority.

The frequency and severerity of hurricanes and typhons like Katrina is influenced by global warming. Bush has refused to do his bit for the environment and thus contributed to the sufferings of us spaceship passengers. Thank You for such a well written blog telling it like it really is. I just wish more people would see it like it really is. Yet I bet in a couple of months everything will go on just as it always has. Bless you and your not the only one that sees it as it really is. I bet those of us that do, would all come together, and we would take a count. It would scare the beegeebees out of em…lol.
